Messy Play

So the other day I let the kids have time to experiment around a bit. I mixed some corn-starch with water. This stuff is fun to play with as if you move your finger through slowly it is liquid but if you try to do the same thing fast it is solid. So it is grate for the kids to experiment with. At first I let them play with the plain white mixture.

Afterwards I let them choose 2 colours to put into there one.

When ever they wanted more colours I asked them what they think was going to happen. And just let them play. I think they played for over an hour before they got board with it.

At some point Miss Mar noticed she can roll it into a ball, Mr Mar Jr was doing little snake type things.

Then when they stop rolling the mixture they let it run between there fingers.

They played for over an hour with this mixture. To keep it a bit contained I put the mixture on baking trys. It still put corn-starch all over the place but defiantly kept it more confined.

Back to school

I am always looking for good friendship books, but they end up having cheesy questions like why do you like horses, who is to say everyone likes horses. So I am making a customized one for Miss Mar, its just a matter of finding the correct format and having photos. Also she is going to a bilingual school so I wanted to make the book in both English and German. So we went out and took some photos then ate ice-crème. It was also the first time I really shot in raw format, and all I can say is I LOVE IT, it made editing so much easer.

School starts for Miss Mar in 2 weeks here and I want to put her friendship book in her sugar bag (as I have found out they are called in English). When kids have there first day at school here they get a cone filled with sweets and other things, we are putting in her friendship book and anther little book about her first day/year at school for her to fill out.

Lady Bugs

 

So while looking around on pintrest I saw some ladybugs with number pop up a few times. The only problem was, it was some type of spam linked to it, therefor I could not get to the original post. With that I thought I would make them and create a post on how to. 

My kids had fun making these. Ms Mar is currently at home before she starts school in Austria, and as she went to school in New Zealand I am now continuing on from where she left of from there. Now she still has allot of problems recognizing a few numbers 6, 8, and 9 so I am doing lots of little things that include numbers, this was one of the activities.
What you need

• black card
• red card
• ether number stickers or pens that write on black paper
• paper pegs (I have no idea what they are called) The little golden things in the box
• Howl puncher to make eyes with / Eyes
• Scissors
• Black Water proof Marker
• Glue
• Lady bug Template (you can down load it here, do not redistribute, please link to this blog post for people to get it. THANK YOU )

Print the template onto cardstock or some other strong paper, as this will make tracing it easer.
Cut out the template

Then trace each part of the template 10 times, If you are doing numbers from 1 – 10 if you are doing more number trace more of each template.

While all this is happing keep 3 year old entertained with the whole puncher

Cut out all the 4 pieces

Punch out the holes

Once done assemble all the pieces, first the body and wings so that the wholes all line up, (on the template as I changed it a bit afterwards, the wings will not line up with the body part, this is on purpose)

Then thread the paper pin through and close it up

They should all look something like this now

Next glue the eyes onto the heads

Once the eyes are on attach the heads with a small dab of clue on the paper pin head

and push the head onto the glue, make sure you don’t use to much glue or else it will glue onto the paper and you can't open the wings anymore.

















Then open up the wings and stick the numbers onto the body


















Next look at the number on the body an draw on the dots representing that number

When they are done the will look like this

These are also useful for explaining even and uneven numbers, the uneven numbers have a dot in the centre going across both wings.

EASTER

I had originally written this post for I took the pintrest challenge, but then while waiting for the post to come on Friday I noticed it was gone. So there for it is now with Create and shear, the first project is me and Ms Mar dying Easter eggs.The second one what I wanted to show for the Pinterest challenge.

So we had a grate Easter. We were at my grandparents, just the weather wasn’t playing with us. It was snowing and windy and cold. So we were inside most of the time. But mostly we had fun.

Ms Mar and I coloured Easter eggs. Ms Mar did a grate job. We used thread that we put in dye or we used leaves to get the impressions on the eggs. After we put the thread or the leaves on the egg up wrapped it in a stocking and then dipped it into the colours.

She made the blue eggs I did the others.

 

 

I made some Easter eggs out of a method I found on pintrest. Though I changed it a bit.

My first mition was to get 2 small lindt Easter bunnies 6 lindt Easter eggs and a little chick I made into a VERY small balloon. I was considering getting bigger balloons but in the end I did it.

After that I wrapped the eggs with the yarn, I just used normal yarn, not embroding yarn. Then hang them up to dry. Since the weather wasn’t good so it took nearly a day to dry.

After I popped the balloons I threaded a ribbon through the balloons and they looked cute. The grandparents all loved them.

A blog I have neglected & my way over due winner give away.

I love blogging, but right now we just came back to Austria about 6 weeks ago. I have been busy. First, I applied for Mrs Mar to be home-schooled for the rest of her kindy year, as in Austria she is still too young to go to school. I did not wan to send her back to a kindy after visiting a school. So home-school it was. It is a grate adventure. I had about a 24 page circulaium to read through and plan on. I ended up writing over a A4 page of when I will be doing with her to reach all the goals they ask for. Most of the stuff they want you to do, I already do. I am collecting ideas and recourses over on pintest (may I say I am addicted) I have 2 boards for luring aspects, one EDUCATION and the other CRAFTS

Mr Mar Jr also turned 3. Can you believe it, my baby boy is 3 years old now. Time has gone by so fast. He is FINNALY potty trained. He was going pee in the loo before he turned 3, but my conversations often went like this.

Mrs Mar: Where dose poo go?
Mr Mar Jr: In the toilet.
Mrs Mar: Where dose Mr Mar do his poo.

Yeh, he knew but didn’t cear. So I was at a loss. Till about 2 weeks after we arrived back in Austria, I asked where did Mr Mar Jr go, well he was upstairs sitting on the toilet. When he then called. MUM came and wipe my bum, me poo. From that day on he was toilet trained. Really it just had to click in his brain. We are also stoped using nappies at night. As he had been waking up dry for AGES, but since it was a hit and miss during the day I just left them on at night too. So glad we are behind nappies.

Ms Mar is still going to her “afterschool” activates, gym and ballet. We have no started running, in July we will be running with 30,000 other woman in the woman's run this will be my 3^rd time running the 5km race. And Ms Mar will be running for the first time. I think we will be walking half of it. But still we will get to the end. It is all about motivating woman to run. Once a week we meet with other woman for free training. I really enjoy this and Ms Mar has been asking for about 2 years to go along. So this time I said yes, she will be 6 by then, what I think is ok. If on the day she says it is too much and doesn't want to that's fine, she wont have too. But I doubt she will say that.

Now photography wise, I haven’t been doing much since getting back from New Zealand. Though about a month before I left I asked a friend of mine who was about to have her first baby if I could take photos of her new born, I LOVED it.

I had so much fun, it took 4 hours, but we were only doing photos for about 1 hour as it took her 3 to go into deep sleep. I had to then rush off to take a neighbours car to the garage.  Now I am trying to find clients in Austria who want me to take photos. The only down side is I am not allowed to open up a photography business here, as I would need to spend ALOT of money first getting courses they want me to have before I am legally allowed to open up a photography business. I think photography is a form of art, going to school would defiantly help, but if people like it then why can’t I do it… I will have to find away around it.
